my key fob is broke, on a omega 2.0 16v L reg

i can unlock the car with the key etc

but i cant get it started at all cus the immobiliser is on

how do i bypass this or go about getting it sorted

if its the same fob others vauxhalls use, then they have a large design flaw. I've fixed many fobs which have broke, most were from omegas infact.

what happens is the battery clip comes away from the PCB. It has 3 pins around it and these usually break off. Use a knife to open it up and take a look. You can either solder these back on, or use some doubled up cardboard between the top of the battery clip and the plastic casing. this will push it against the pins.

its most likely the clip has come apart inside, but sometimes the components can fail, if your handy with electronics, you can fix them fairly easily. its just abit fiddly.

hope that helps.

its working as in the led is flashing when you press the botton

its not the fob as in key-fob, its the stand alone fob version

ive tried everything ive even tried a diff IR Diode

if you changed the diode, i assume you checked the pins on the battery clip. there should be 3. it only needs 2 to be connected for the led to light up.

have you tried a reset? put key in ignition and turn 2 clicks. then press the open button and if successful it will no nuts and lock and open the doors a few times. this pairs up the fob and resets the logic. used to get this on a N reg vectra with old style fob like yours.

tried joining any omega forums? i'm on some vectra forums and they're always helpful with problems like this. could try one of them as the wiring in both cars is quite similar.

ive tried what you said, ive just about re solderd every connection on the pcb

also tried the re syncing the fob

any other ideas

is there anyway to disable the imob as i dont really need it

sounds like your fob works fine!

sorry, but i dont know enough of the electronics in that car to think of a suggestion. could always try disconnecting the battery with the key in the ignition and reconnecting it.

go join some forums dedicated to your car. i'm sure they can be help. if you need to i can ask some peeps on the forum i go on to see if they know anything about it.

i really hope its just the fob not working ... tho i pritty sure it is

vauxhall say if i get a spare fob they can programe it to the car for 35 quid or 93 quid if they supply a fob

i cant find any omgea forums [anyone know any]
