Ok going to throw this out as a preliminary post.

Over the past week my PC has developed an irritating fault ........... the keyboard and mouse have developed lag (delay when typing, pointer freezing and then catching up).

Some audio crackle and drops in FPS when playing games.

When running a game sometimes the keyboard becomes totally unresponsive.

Replaced keyboard and mouse, still same problem ...... updated and rolled back drivers, still same problem ......... reinstalled windows (3 times), still same problem.

Temps are well within range (around 50 - 55 c max GPU and around 60 c max CPU).

Memtest showed no errors, SSD's are in perfect health, voltages are fine.

After much head scratching and investigation I came across high DPC issues as a possible cause of the problems ...... installed latencymon which I ran while running tasks and hey presto ..... it reports that the values are high to cause issues with real time audio while running other tasks.

The GPU value was high as was USB.

Have disabled things, enabled, typed in commands in cmd prompt and all other suggested fixes ....... no fix.

****** are to refund the motherboard (z77a-g45, 5 months old) and if a new board does not fix it then I will need to rma the graphics card (gtx670, 1 year old).

Do any of you guys have any last minute advice before I go though the rma process? I am so ****ed off I am really am considering selling it once I get the new / replaced gear back.

Running latencymon after 4 minutes I have these values ....

Highest reported DPC routine exe time ... 1393.82 (nvlddmkm.sys)

Highest reported ISR routine execution time ..... 157.23 (dxgkrnl.sys)

Highest reported hard page fault resolution time ...... 16588.56

Total hard page fault count .... 1026

Highest measured interrupt to process latency ..... 463.89

and msi monitoring software running? try closing them and see if latency drops

Only running latencyMon at the moment, no msi monitoring software.

What would be causing the high page fault level? ....... in latencymon it shoots up into the red the instant I turn it on.

Have tested the SSDs with ssdlife and they both come up in the green.

Starting to lean towards mobo as source of probs.

I had much the same problem, only I didn't have the kbm lag you're experiencing.

what I did was:

Go into BIOS and disable hardware and features not in use. I was using a separate soundcard, so disabled onboard audio, disabled any serial ports, floppy drive, and the like. I wasnt using wifi controller so turned that off.

I checked my mobo manual to see what irq channels were shared, and moved my soundcard to a slot that was shared with less devices than the previous slot (it was sharing channels with both sata controllers, a usb controller, on board audio and a gpu, but when I moved it was sharing only with the other gpu and the usb3 controller).

My motherboard has two sata controllers (intel and asmedia) so I moved my sata devices to the intel controller and turned off the asmedia controller.

Then I re-installed windows and re-installed drivers individually. I would reccomend only installing your network card driver, and once you've done that you can go online and get the most up to date driver for each device. use latencymon after installing each driver to test and find the culprit.

Also when installing the nvidia driver, I chose not to install the 3d vision drivers and the nvidia audio drivers.

I got there in the end, and now I'm spike-free. It was the same drivers causing the problem for that you have, and I too was using a gtx 670. Also of note, intel RST driver was causing big spikes, but since disabling the asmedia controller, this wasn't a problem anymore.

I was tearing my hair out I swear to god.
