ok im building a gaming pc for the first time because games like Crysis and STALKER frankly look awesome but after having a bash on my mates computer keyboard and mouse (at first anyway) is difficult well what im asking is whats a good game to practice with a nice easy first person shooter

Counter Strikes is all I can think of. Then maybe move into some Unreal Tournament. Totally different paces and forms of aiming are needed.

I found in order -> Call of Duty (**** easy :) ), Battlefield 2 and Far Cry a good starting point for me when I moved from console to PC.

Perhaps Counter Strike is not the best idea since there's some pretty good players that'll kill you within mere seconds if you're not lighting quick. Try playing Farcry or FEAR on the easiest level.

Quake 4 is pretty easy, not much to it other than running and spraying. Good fun too.

Also, serious sam 2 will be great for getting you used to using a kb+mouse as its easy and you dont really need to aim that hard.

Doesn't really matter too much.

Example if you get say COD 2, you will no doubt get killed a lot when you start playing it "noob". Obviously, but if you play it enough you will get better, learn to play like others, adapt, make use of a weapon effectivly etc.

It does take time but the more you practice the better you will get.

That's incredibly true. When you start gaming, it's better to try and start off with a basic optical mouse and basic keyboard. Then, when you feel ready, move up to a gaming mouse such as a Razer Diamondback, Habu or Copperhead and a gaming keyboard such as the Saitek eclipse II. But, don't just move because you want to. You need to feel comfortable that you can manage to keep your skill level similar or better with the new keyboard and mouse.

As for first games to practice, the Need For Speed Most Wanted demo is good for keyboard control. Halo is good for mouse control. Battlefield 2 is good for fun.

I'd second the suggestion of Serious Sam 2. Fairly forgiving aim wise and the action is fast and frantic, should get you up to speed in no time.

Personally I learned to use the mouse by playing deathmatch against bots in Quake.

Could always just use bots, they suck balls. :p

Yeah I'd agree there; CSS certainly requires a lot of skill with the mouse to be able to compete with the better players.
