After using a Microsoft wireless desktop keybaord and mouse set for 3 years I have decided its time for an upgrade. the keys are clunky, noisy and awkward and the mouse is on its last legs, cant moan though really - they have served me well.

Features I would like are
-Wireless
-possibly rechargeable rather than normal batteries?
-Back lit keys
-Ideally hot keys, or programmable keys on mouse and/or keyboard

I am a light gamer, but regularly use my computer for account and general word processing as well as surfing the web. Functionality and comfort are very important, as for my budget - I don't mind spending up to £100 provided I get all the bells and whistles and they look decent

Microsoft Sidewinder X4 keyboard is petty good, although not wireless and gets recommended highly. Had one myself for a while now, typing is OK, keys are firm but not stiff and they have a nice click and feel responsive when typing. It was mentioned on another forum that it has a non-standard key layout but when touch typing the on problem I very occasionally have is the left shift key is often missed and I press the "\" instead. Nice red backlit with three settings for brightness and off as well. Basic media control too. For gaming it's very good and has anti-ghosting technology. Not so sure on the mouse but some offerings from Logitech are very good.

I would go with the X4 keyboard and Logitech G700 wireless mouse which together come in at the top end of your budget or the Logitech G500 which is a bit cheaper and wired.

Thanks for the replay shadow boxer. This X4 you speak of sounds very tempting.

Could you explain anti ghosting? never heard of that term before.

I like Logitech stuff, I have a DiNovo Mini for my media center and its a fantastic piece of kit. I'm just wondering if I buy a wireless mouse for desktop made by them if it will interfere (my media centres on pretty much 24/7 lol)

Sorry for hijacking!

I was going to post about a keyboard and mice spec but this spec suffices for me as well. What mousemat is good to get nowadays? I have an extremely old Qpad back from the day when they indirectly sponsored our Call of Duty (the original!) clan and it is knackered to say the least!

Thanks
