Hi,
Having just finished receiving the bits for my new computer build
i am now in the situation as to where to place it.
due to living in a cottage ,space is an issue
old computer used to sit behind front door
new computer has bigger/longer case so cant put it where old case stood as front door wont open fully, so what i am thinking is having the base unit over other side of room and having keyboard mouse and monitor over other side of room.
what bits would i need to achive this?(new case is silver so ideally would like to match keyboard and mouse with case)
would wireless keyboard and mouse work for this?
few pointers to the bits i would need would be most appreciated.
monitor lead, would there be any problems having a long dvi lead for the monitor.
would need about 15ft do such things exist?
any help advice greatly appreciated

Bad idea imho. Find some space for the PC, what your asking is fraught with problems.

what sort of problems could i be looking at?
wireless side of things or lengthning the monitor lead?
if its the wirless side of things wouls extending usb keboard lead and mouse cause problems?
cheers for the info so far

Apologies, just it seems like a lot of hassle.

Off the top of my head, I would have thought you might get signal degredation from the vga/dvi lead that long, wireless devices (mouse, keyboard) are supposed to operate at around 5-10 feet (I think), potential interference from microwaves, and other wireless devices (although not very likely).

Add to that the general day to day operation of your PC (putting CDs in drives, usb sticks in, restarting the PC, etc).

No chance you could sell/return the case for one that would fit?

There isn't an absolute max length for VGA cables that I know of but as melbourne720 says signal degredation may occur and require the use of repeaters/amplifiers. However for 15ft you should be just about ok if you can find somewhere selling a cable of that length.

Wireless keyboard/mouse etc, I'd try to pick up reasonably high quality items - I've got a Logitech G7 (mouse) that I've used at a distance of about 20 feet and through a wall but it isn't produced any more. There should be other suitable products though.

Why would you need to match the keyboard and mouse with the case? They won't even be within 10ft of it. ;) Again as melbourne720 says you might be best to try to get a different case for simplicities sake if you can. :)

setup is as above
a is where old computer is
b is where i want to put it
I is where is wall is
but i want to keep mouse, keboard ,monitor at point a
monitor lead would have to go up edge of wall across then back down to B
which i have now mesured and is 14ft
keyboard and mouse would have to go A to B which at max i guess would be approx 6 ft as if wiress would be direct across room
acess to usb cd dvd drives is not an issue as i rarely use these.
apart from the tv there is no other electrical devices near at all no other wireless devices apart from mine in the area either :)
