I’m looking to upgrade my keyboard and mouse as I currently use the Logitech k400 bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo but It just doesn’t cut it. So far I’m thinking it’s between these two;

Cougar deathfire EX combo

Or

Steelseries Apex 300 keyboard with
Steelseries Rival 300 mouse

But I can’t decide which is best to get? Anybody used or have these or can recommend something different? I usually game using my Xbox one remote but would like to start using a keyboard as it seems speed and accuracy doesn’t get you killed

What money you want to put in it. If money no object (or similar), I'd put my trust in the SS combo. The Rival 300 is a good mouse. Dunno about the keyboard, but looks all right.

I suspect the Cougar set will be 1/2 price?

Roughly about 30-40 each is my budget.
SS comes in at 30 each and the cougar set is 55 for both, not really heard of cougar but they seemed to get good enough reviews but SS is more well known to me and would trust buying. Just wandered If anyone out there had these or had used any

Cougar is OK. On the side of better low-tier gear.

The SS 300 combo, I would consider it a solid middle-of-the-road gaming setup. That's what I'd lean towards.

The Rival 300 used to be top-tier *now a bit old), used by pros and such. It's a good mouse, with a good sensor. As for the keyboard, I don't know, maybe there are better alternatives but it looks adequate.

Yeah I have forgot about the cougar set now and looking more towards SS I like the mouse just stuck on the keyboard now there are so much to choose from I never realised. The 300 looks quiet big and don’t think I’d use all the extra buttons, I’m now looking at the 100,150 or m400 but I think the m400 is going into lower tier mechanical keyboards which is another story altogether.

Ok so I’ve bought the rival 300 mouse in gun metal grey but. Now can’t decide between the steel series apex 100 and 150 am I paying double the price just for rbg lighting control? seems a bit much

Both backlit. Personally, I dont care for RGB. So no, I'd say not worth it.

But, looks like the keys are solid and do not let the light through though. That's kind of a bummer. From experience, I prefer to see the keys shine through. Much better.

Yeah the 100 is just a blue back light and the 150 is full controllable RGB including backlit through the keys. That’s the only difference I can see unless I’m missing something but Thats what must cost the extra £30 for it

I’ve ended up with the apex 100 as I thought I wouldnt need the extra lighting that much as I have RGB in my PC if I need to use it, which will be basically next to me.

Thanks for all the advice
