Keyboard doesn't work on startup boot screen

Heya there

I have a USB keyboard connected to my computer but on the startup and boot screen it doesn't seem to work. I remember it used to work before I installed some stuff on my computer but now it doesn't. What's wrong? :confused:

have you got a usb to ps2 connector adaptor that you can use to test that its not the keyboard, or another keyboard to load your os and check that the USB ports are working in device manager?

You probably need to turn on legacy USB in the BIOS

The keyboard works fine in Windows, but doesn't work before Windows is loaded i.e. during boot menu etc.

yea same with me, USB G15, never has just thought it wouldnt work as its usb not ps2?

hmm im getting a g15 today... does that mean i need to get a ps2 keyboard also (my old is a bluetooth usb) to get into bios?

Only if your motherboards bios is crap. Chances are your kb will be fine.

Something in BIOS will allow you to use USB keyboard on startup, i had the same problem yesterday.

As others have said there are some options in the BIOS (normally under advanced settings I think) that let you enable USB keyboard and mouse support, just enable that and you should be away.
