Right, I need a new keyboard and headset

Headset must be USB (as I often have music on speakers and Skype etc through headset), it'll mostly be used for gaming, Skype and some music.

Keyboard again mainly used for gaming, want some macro keys but not OTT, preferably media buttons for muting/changing song etc on Spotify, also want it to be relatively quiet to type on.

Thanks :)

With the headset I'd go for either a SteelSeries or Corsair model cause their stuff always gets great reviews. For the keyboard, I'm currently using a Logitech G105 and it's awesome. It's £55 on OCUK

Prefer one with a nice wristpad, currently have the Microsoft Sidewinder X4, always went with keyboards with quite a bit of a wristpad :p

OP needs a budget.

I want a mechanical keyboard, as they are far better than standard ones, but they start at £60.

I have a Corsair HS1 USB 7.1 headset. It is brilliant. Definitely go for one that has one speaker in each ear, as the software creates the surround sound effect. Having multiple speakers in each earcup is the old way.

If it's a mechanical keyboard with a wrist rest you're after then check out the CM Storm Trigger board. You can get it with either black or brown switches. The brown switch version is £90 and the black switch version is £100

I don't have a budget really, guessing the HS1 is no longer sold? Can't find it on OcUK or the rainforest.

I don't mind mechanical or not, as long as it's quiet and nice/easy to type on really.

A lot of people praise the red switches when it comes to gaming but then I've heard a few people go on about how much they don't like the red's and that the blues are best for gaming so I have no idea what to recommend lol

Like I said though, the brown's are supposed to be the quietest/best for typing so at least you've got that to go on :p

Here's what I think is the explanation, correct me if I'm wrong: I believe mech keys have springs in them and the different colours stand for different spring tensions.

Also, they last a hell of a lot longer than standard boards.

I may be wrong but that's what I've been led to believe haha

Best way to find out which mech keys you like is go somewhere that stocks them and try them out. It does seem to be a lot of personal preference. Of course then come home and order from ocuk ;)

I don't really like the look of the Corsair Vengeance, doesn't look as if it'd be all too comfortable and looks rather bulky if i'm being honest.
