Keyboard Issue - keys not working.

Keyboard issue. Got an odd problem with my keyboard. Over the past month or two I've found that the t key and enter at the keypad dont work for some time then mysteriously begin working again. I'm currently using control + v to paste a t when i need to use one!

Had the microsoft keyboard since i built this pc in 2008. Is it just worn out and needs replaced or could it be a virus / keylogger?

Unfortunately i dont have any spare keyboards lying about to test it.

Dude man, 2 keyboard are a necessity. Just joking. Go by your local argos and pick up the cheapest one they have to see if it's your keyboard or virus/keylogger.

might pop the keyboard in my bag tomorrow and take it to work and test it on the pc there to see if its ok.

Is it the Microsoft one with the spinner volume control above the "Ins, Home, Pg. Up" keys?

its the microsoft comfort curve 2000 keyboard. After about 5hrs of my pc being on, the t button is now working again. Soon be time to switch the pc off again!

Looks just to be a modification to the startmenu so nothing serious.

It sounds like the membrane is simply wearing out and failing to complete the circuit that registers the keystroke. Though, I would have thought the WASD cluster would have gone before the T as the WASD cluster is used more frequently, especially in gaming.

Turning the computer off and on again won't fix it. You'll need a new keyboard. Rubber membrane keyboards don't have a particularly long life span anyway.

i would have thought that as well. Play a bit of COD so surprised it was the t thats giving up first although the keypad enter key is a bit temperamental as well and it goes virtually untouched. I'll see how i get on tomorrow with it though and see if it happens again.......


If it does then this will become a spec me a new keyboard thread

Hmmm, sitting at work using my keyboard and the t and enter on keypad are working fine. Will see if it remains ok this evening.

Would the keyboard sitting doing nothing for 16hrs of the day possibly affect the keys at all?
