Hi,

Long time customer although i don't post much, i intend to change that.
So, What i wanted to do here was match my gear to my Phantom full sized case that i bought from OCUK earlier in the year.

Basically i bought a COD black ops headset 5.1 for £35...cheap, Not a bad headset. I know, i know... but saving a fair amount i put up with the branding... Until now!

Also i have had my Logitech G510 a while and it was needing a clean and repairs as keys were playing up...perfect time to strip it down and get it reapired and painted.

Same story with the mouse, It's a Microsoft X8 mouse. I love the mouse, got used to it and don't really want to change. So yet again..... that WILL match!
Ill post the progress pictures now!

Not a lot to follow for this...mainly because it's all done. But i though someone might get some inspiration to maybe liven up their old boring gear and fall in love with it again, i hope it's okay to do it this way :-)

Ill post them in comments below :)

I removed the back and disconnected the cable that attaches the USB cable to the keyboard (at the top) Was fairly straight forward.

I removed all of the insides and gave it a good clean, making sure it was all dry of course.
It was much easier to dismantle than i thought it might be :-)

All of the other bits were also primed up and sprayed the desired colours.
As you can see most is white with the screen going an Iron man candy apple red and the main body is gloss white.

I didn't plan of on sharing this so there is a lack of photos, The photos were purely taken to show some mates.

This is what the keyboard looked like once it was clear coated and dry!

Note that the Logitech logo didnt look as red on the palm rest as it did on the logo on the actual keyboard. So here is both ( I do fix this later by spraying the part that holds the logo in place white.

Palm rest on

Palmrest off

All in one pic that i did for Kitguru
I know it kind of covers everything above but hey ho...have a look see :-)

The Microsoft X8! This pic is from a review i wrote a while back. It's a great mouse... just tired and in need f some lovin'

I removed the housing

And in the same fashion as the g510, primed, colored and clear coated the parts! This isn't all of the parts! But you get the jist!

Putting the whole thing back together again is really easy! lots of parts but the X8 was really nice to paint up and give me no stress considering the parts.

All back together! Jobs a good one!

Anopther all in one - Again i know it seems like a waste of time doing all of the above, although think it's worth adding.

Really nice and cool peripheral mods! You could maybe have painted the logo in the headset red additionally that would make it match perfect :D

Thanks, i did wirte that i would be doing that, although to be fair the pics speak for themselves. Ill add a pic of that once i have that done.

Thanks again :D

I like it, a cheap and simple, yet very effective mod to complement any custom build, ive never even thought of doing this myself and im sure a lot of other guys have not either.
Watch this space you may have started a craze on OcUK.

I hope so! It cost me about £20 and looks incredible if i do say so myself.
You know when you get bored of your gear and want something new? This fixes that!

Great to do repair work and cleaning if needed too. Thanks!

Thanks a lot guys, Appreciate it! First time i have done this kind of thing. So happy that it isn't just me that likes it. Really looks nice together. Gave my gear a new lease of life. Would love to see more people do stuff like this.

Kept me busy too.
