Keyboard o-rings

I recently bought a Corsair K65 and heard about o-rings. Are they just for making the keyboard quieter, do they change the feel of the keys much?

I recently put some on my K60. It doesn't make much of a difference to the key press itself, but it makes the sound of the keypress a little deeper and less tappy when they bottom out.
