my problem is most of the time i am unable to get into my bios as the keyboard doesnt seam to work till i get into windows, however sometimes it works, anybody got any ideas, i ran the trouble shooter on windows 7 and thought it cured my problem once but i think it was just coincidence. any ideas?

The power is given to the keyboard when it receives it, then it sends out a signal for the mouse to latch on to, the signal can be affected by microwaves, radios, phones, wall you name it, even if everything appears the same, it may have changed in some way. Any number of things can delay the time it takes for the signal to connect to the mouse, this will probably be why it connects at odd times. Unfortunately you sort of have to live with it, or come to the wired side :)

ok thanks, i was kinda blaming the keyboard/mouse set up, its pretty poor and am gonna go back to wired hopefully with xmas money i get

Can you try a different channel for the kb/mouse? That might help if there's interference. It's not always an option though.

Also, if it's just problems getting into your BIOS, see if there's an option in there to support USB Legacy devices or something similar...this may work, but obviously if you can't get into the BIOS you'll need another kb to be able to access it!
