Right so basically a friend of mine is having a problem using French on their keyboard in Firefox/Skype and other online software. The problem is whenever they try to insert a special character such as é the shortcut is ^ + e. However It keeps doing this instead ^^ + e and thus doesn't work. This doesn't happen in Office or notepad but only on online programs.

Tried to uninstall drivers etc but no luck, win7 keyboard/language settings are correct and no changes have been made there. Tried different usb ports too and a diff comp on which it works so it's Windows itself.

OS is Windows 7 Pro x64 with Logitech G110 keyboard

Any idea what this could be and how to fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

Word etc will always compensate for foreign keyboards when they are set in UK standards. But I think online, the keyboard will always go back to its original set up of idiotic key placements.

Hmm that sucks to be honest. It just happened randomly though, it was working fine before and then it suddenly stopped working.

Think you misunderstood mate, French (Belgian) is the default one they want. Tried updating drivers/software but no luck

Have you got the french language for the keyboard installed? Should be able to check in Control Panel -> Region and Language and the keyboard tab. Once its added right click on the task bar and go toolbars and language bar. This should put a button on the taskbar, which you can use to see which language the keyboard is currently set to.

Thanks for the help guys, problem fixed! Turns out there was a toolbar that was blocking the French keyboard from working correctly, uninstalled it and works fine now!
