Hi, Im more a guitar man myself, but a mate of mine is looking to buy a relatively decent keyboard for his girlfriend so that she can start learning how to play. I haven't really got a clue what is good and what isnt, I can only go on what they look like, so I thought I'd ask here and see if anybody had any recommendations on what to get.

Are the Yamaha PSR series any good? He's spotted one in that range, one with a 3.5" disk drive (bit odd) for loading MIDI's on to be played.

We have a PSR-340 (a few years old now...) and it has the floppy drive. Its a very decent keyboard for learning with - it was my sister's technically, but recently, I've actually used it more....

I'm not sure about the newer stuff, not had much experience with keyboards myself - more a guitar person too :D

The floppy drive is a bit odd at first, but its quite useful for recording and saving yourself playing to listen at a later date.
