keyboard screwing up

my keyboard is acting very strange, half the keys are outputting the wrong letters/numbers. i can only type if i hold down the fn key on my laptop.

does anyone know how i can fix this? maybe its a virus.

for an example, i will type my post again without holding fn.

try booting into safe mode and see if it happens there?

turn off the numlock on the keyboard and all will be fixed.

usualy press the Fn+Numlock key to turn it off

was just going to suggest that, my sister had this exact problem becuase the laptop has no indication of wether numlock is on or not!
