Keyboard to use macros and insert text?

Hi everyone. I am looking to see if anyone can advise me on a programmable keyboard to use macros and insert text into a game? If you know what I mean?

I am an IL2 Forgotten Battles Flight Sim buff. I spend a lot of time on-line and I have to send a lot of information sometimes in different languages to other pilots in the game.

When in the game and on-line to chat to people, you press the Grave accent key (the one between the esc key and the Tab key) and the chat box opens up. At this stage I type in text to players or I use the inbuilt game menu system hot keys 1 to 9 (need around 20 so they are not enough) that have already listed information or text that the user (me) has already entered. After this is entered into the chat, the information is sent to 1 of 3 choice selections they are: All or MY_ARMY or Server. This last selection does not need to be part of any macro process, as the selection needs to be flexible.

So to clarify what I am looking for: The macro or program needs to open the in game chat bar using the Grave key and then insert text or go to a file on my desk top and copy a line of text into the chat bar. At the moment all this has to be done manually and is very very difficult when flying.

Note. In some cases, I have the Outlook 2007 inbox open with an email from a Russian friend and I copy and paste the Cyrillic translation into the chat box. All this without crashing.

Any suggestions welcomed. I do not wish to go wireless!

Many thanks

it has 6 keys, but 3 slots,

M1 M2 and M3

so when you have M1, the 1-6 are something then you press M2, and its essentially 7-12 and M3 is 13-18

TBH id rather the keys were above the F1 keys, and there were only 12 of them, i think there should be nothing past the left CTRL key but i got used to it anyway..

if you dont need the lcd screen, G11. same as the rev 1 G15, just no lcd

it is really useful, for Teamspeak you can see who is speaking, and press the buttons to mute your mic/mute your output, aswell as other stuff

If you can get hold of an older g15, or the standard g11. As said above, these have 18 G keys + three 'slots' as well. So you effectively have 54 programmable keys :) I have a Rev1 G15 and love it! :D

i have a new rev g15 and i had the old one before it the new one is a lot better not as many keys but the quality is better

Thanks guys. Could someone tell me if it is possible to follow EXACTLY the following:

Remember I am in the game:

Run the macro that opens the chat box (Grave key) and then inserts the Russian text (see below) into the box? The next selection of to ALL or MY_ARMY or Server, would be manual! There again does anyone know if that part could be programmed?

Пожалуйста используйте стандартную окраску и правильные знаки или Вас кикнут

Would someone test this for me please? Pint of beer or two!:D

I presume the software is the same for the G11 and the G15? I am leaning towards the G15.

I have a razer barracuda and prefer it to the G15 as I can press more keys at once, the G15 sucked for multiple key presses around arrow keys.

As for russian text, one sec I'll try it.

Edit: Umm unless you have alt codes for all of those I don't think I can do it?

Sorry if I'm missing something here (I'm quite sure I am as nobody has mentioned it but it's worth a post just in case it saves you some money) but can you not just download some software which allows any key to be programmed and use a standard keyboard? When I played GTA:SA online it required commands to be typed in at quite inconvenient times. I downloaded some software, bound the various commands to a button and I was away. It should allow Russian too. I don't know about grabbing text from a file but you should be able to manually add it when you bind the various commands to the key.

The reason I am looking at a new keyboard, is because the present keyboard is giving notice and I might as well get a "bells and whistles" one, however, I would still like to know from someone if part of the macro can be text entered into the chat box using the G15 keyboard and the software provided? Anyone help here please?

I had thought of software to do this with a standard keyboard, but had dismissed this because you would need extra keys to carry out this function, and anyhow, the IL2 game has all the keys taken up for all the controls in the game.

I have the old G15, had it for a loooong time now, and have no plan to replace it, still working great. The LCD is a bit of a novelty, but there are occassions where it is very useful, e.g for Vent/Teamspeak and for displaying music info while playing full screen games, etc. The back light has 2 settings too, but i always have it on the top setting.

I've seen a few folk talk about this keybaord -

Logic Control LK1800

Every key is programmable but its expensive and have only seen it available in the states.
Sounds pretty cool.
