Most of the top keyboards don't have sleep buttons any more .

Still using an old Compaq key board, which is starting to die.
Anyone recommend a decent keyboard that has a sleep button.

i know you're not asking directly about gaming keyboards, but i'm going to move this to our "gaming peripherals" section as there's more people in there talking about keyboards and other input devices so will hopefully help :)(

corsair use it but I have to ask why?

I mean the speed of the modern computer for boot up makes sleep mode pretty pointless

Although I imagine sleep works better now than it did when sandybridge came out and it would cause bootloops.

Works perfectly for me, always has done. Vista was the first OS to get the sleep function right. Admittedly XP was a pain, but we are way past that now.
SSD's do boot fairly quickly agreed. But my system resumes in 2 seconds or so and all your apps are open and ready where you left off.
IMO sleep is sooooo much more convenient.

Nobody should be using the sleep function in Windows anymore. Just get an SSD.

Thats your opinion....certainly not mine.
IMO there is no justifiable reason not to use such a convenient feature.

Not true, Its evil on Haswell too.
Your opinion again.
I have it working perfectly on my haswell-e system.

Besides I like to use the sleep function , hence asking for oppinions on keyboards *with* a sleep button

Thanks TwsT I'll look into the corsair. Any particular model.

Its not just an opinion its based on a modicum of experience having to sort out PC's that have crapped out due to going into sleep mode. Unable to turn them back on or get them too boot resulting in having to reimage. Laptops are specially prone to this and the old battery reset method often doesnt solve the problem.

We have sleep/hibernate turned off in our images and one of the first things I check is off.

My PC boots to Windows in 14 seconds and I dont have to rely on a software induced state which at any minute could crap out resulting in a PITA.

Its great you find it useful I just would not rely on it thats just my opinion.

To those saying Sleep is no longer used, do they have TV on their computer. I do and in order to record stuff when the PC is "off" it needs to be in sleep to do so. Also if I am recording and press power down it needs the recording to be cancelled, Sleep allows the recording to continue but without the PC actually being "on".

I've used sleep since ever. bit annoying that modern keyboards dont have a sleep button, yes. Doesnt matter if it is just a few key presses in windows, that's still more than just pressing a sleep button.

re-image because of a sleep issue?

Sleep mode can be done in about 3-5 key presses on windows. No need to limit yourself to specific keyboards just for a sleep button :)

Yes I know.

But for many reasons I want a keyboard with a sleep button
Hence the post "Keyboard *WITH* a sleep button" not " Alternative ways to get around not having a sleep button " :p
