Anyone know any good ones they could recommend me? It's not for a malicious purpose so don't worry... need to monitor my laptop usage while I'm away. Thanks! :D
 
If you don't trust people to use your laptop, don't let them use your laptop. Spying on them may not be malicious but it is an invasion of privacy.
 
no one said anything about not trusting anyone, I just need to monitor it. I told someone not to use it for more than 8 hours a day. They have a habit of leaving their computer on 24/7, so just need to keep an eye on it initially.
 
Well you could use parental controls to limit use of your computer without sneakily logging personal information, but if you don't trust them to turn off your computer then don't let them use it. Dodgy in my opinion.

There's something in the system preferences that lets you shut the computer down between certain times. In the parental preferences, just set that up instead.
 
Set the screen saver to run after 1/2 minutes of inactivity.

Require a password on wake - win.
