This card served me well, was a bit of a beast when I got it. It's been powering my sons pc for the last couple of years but today it has just stopped working.

All the fans spin up but there is no display output at all. I'm presuming it is pretty much completely dead, unless anyone has any ideas ?

Looks like I'm gonna have to put my hand in my pocket for him, unless he can get used to using his onboard GPU, ha!

Try it in your pc to make sure its deffo packed up?

GTX480's get hot so it could have melted itself if the fans/heatsink have clogged up with dust and there is poor case airflow. Especially as its been abit warmer last couple days

Tried cleaning it and put it in my pc, but still nothing.

It did run very cool for a 480, the fans on the Anarchy were very good indeed. Oh well, time to weigh up the options around the £200 mark for him. He's using his onboard graphics for now, he can play Hearthstone anyway, haha :)

Thanks for the suggestions all. I might up the budget ever so slightly and get him a 770, we'll see how well he does in his upcoming exams.

I thought about giving him one of my 580's, selling the other and upgrading myself, but I just spent £250 on a new monitor so can't see the wife being overly impressed if I bring home a new graphics card as well!

Unfortunately I don't have access to the MM. Been here 7 years but am not the most prolific of posters!

He can wait until after his exams. In a way it's good timing, less to distract him from his revision over the next couple of weeks.

Bake it? As in, put it in the oven? Sure, I'll give it a shot otherwise it's getting binned.

What do I need to do exactly? Strip it down as much as possible I presume, but how long does one bake a GPU for? And at what gas mark?

Where Delia when you need her :)

Cheers mate. I'll give that a read and have a go this weekend. Working til 8 every night this week or I'd do it sooner. I'll report back with my results.
