Ok guys in December i build my room mate new pc for 1.4k more or less. We went for KFA2 680GTX
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-006-KF&tool=7

Question is should this card run around 90c while gaming stock speed ??
Hes got descent cooler master case and stock speed 3570k is producing almost no heat...
System is stable and all but i was checking some 7950vs680 the other day and well that does not look right to me..
Bad thermal compound application ??
I know my mate for over 20 years. He will not rma it rather wait till it dies but did someone had temperature like that in msi on 680gtx ??

If using the nvidia reference cooler then temperatures between 82~85*c are within normal range depending of the rest of the airflow. However a good airflow in the case does not hurt anything.

My stock 680 always ran at 81 C at full load - no adjustments made to the card. The second 680 was pretty much identical, and also runs at 80-82 C when fully loaded in games.

Don't think a temp of 90 is that bad - probably not RMA territory, but it wouldn't hurt to check the fan profile your friend is running it under and seeing if MSI Afterburner/PrecisionX can help at all in that regard - set one to kick in when it hits 85 to 90 and see what happens.

My stock EVGA 680 wasn't particulary cool and the guy who bought it put an accelero cooler on, which improved temps nicely.

Those temps do seem very high though and if RMA isn't so much an option, consider a custom cooler.

i will look into

fan profiles.
I was thinking about changing thermal compound on it for him. But i dont want to void warranty on hes 400f gpu :P that is not hanging or crashing on stock speeds :P
