Kia - "catch up" service

My wife owns a 2 year old Kia and due to coronavirus, last years service which was due in late March was pushed back to late July when the dealership was open again. All was well warranty wise as Kia will still honour any warranty claims due to the late service.
Today I received a message from the dealership asking me to book another service to "catch up". Since last July the car has put on less than 500 miles. It sounds a bit excessive. Looking online I can't find anything official requiring this and I was expecting it not to need a service until July following the "annual/12k miles" rule. I'll try and contact Kia directly to get an official answer. Has anyone here experienced this with Kia, or another manufacturer?

Interested in a POV. My mum is debating pushing out the service to realign MOT dates or do an additional service to maintain timing.

Is this on a HP or owned outright?
If you own the vehicle and warranty claims will not be effected then I would not bother, like you said its annual or 12k mileage and you have hardly driven the car since July.
On the other hand if its a car on PCP or HP and you will return the vehicle then there possibly could be some issues as they have strict terms with regards to service etc else it will impact on the final value offered. In this case its worth speaking with the finance company direct rather then the sales/dealership.

It's fully owned and will probably go to my 9 year old when he's of driving age! Obviously don't want to void the warranty for the sake of a few months. I've messaged Kia directly to get something official.

I got this reply from Kia

Dear Tom

Thanks for your recent contact.

It’s great to hear you’ve purchased a Kia Stinger, welcome to the Kia family.

I would like to advise that a late or missed service doesn’t invalidate the warranty however if a warranty is made and it has been caused by the lack of maintenance then the warranty claim maybe declined.

For all warranty terms and exclusions, please visit our website; https://www.kia.com/uk/owners/insurance-and-warranty/7-year-warranty/terms-and-exclusions/

If there’s anything else I can help you with, please get in touch via email or phone on 0333 2022 990.

Kind regards

Sounds weird. I would have thought it would be 12k/1 year since the last service (ie as you say, July).
