Hope this doesn't get classed as medical...

Ok since I broke up for Christmas from college, my sleeping patterns have absolutely gone to pot. I've found myself going to bed at 5-6am and getting up at 4pm. And tonight, I went to bed at 3am and ended up getting back up at 7am (No sleep), for breakfast.

Anyone know a good way to kick my body clock back into shape? Going to bed earlier just doesn't work because I lay there for hours just doing nothing

Thanks :)

That's kind of what I was thinking, couldn't really care less about NYE so may just have a sleep tonight at a reasonable 10pm. Should be easier since I've been up all night so far :p

Pull an all nighter, then go to bed at a reasonable time the day after, go from there.

That never works for me, because I'm so tired I stay in bed for 17 or 18 hours and again get up around 5 or 6 pm...

When I don't have a ''reason'' ( uni/appointement/work) to get up I just cba to get out of bed usually until about 5-7 pm:( .

see that's the opposite for me..

after an all nighter, when i'm really really tired (struggling to keep my eyes open sort).. i won't get as much sleep as i'd like.. compared to just going bed normally

for example, i did an all nighter not long ago. i now go bed about 11pm, waking up at 7am. normally i'd go bed in the early hours, like 4am.. and will sleep till about 4pm (could sleep more but alarm set for work).. :/

Sounds like me, I'm attempting to stay awake all day and go to bed some time this evening. Failed twice already - made it to 12pm on Tuesday and 2pm yesterday.

I slept for 20 hours once, I felt so dirty.

I can never get out of bed or get up when I don't have to, even when I set an alarm on days so I won't sleep all day, I just turn it off, and sleep again, even if I set my alarm to go off at 3 different times I will just wake up and fall alseep 3 times... If my parents try to wake my i get a bad morning temper telling them to leave me alone as I have no reason to get up.

It's just as simple as ( regardless what times):
Work: Get up no problems.
Uni: Get up no problems ( aside from feeling sleepy/tired/cold due to lack of enough sleep :p).
Appointment ( say dentist): Get up.

If I have a day off: staying bed all day long, around 6pm I get up.

get absolutely hammered one night and make yourself go to sleep :) go from there (y)

Would end up me being in bed for 16-20 hours again :p.

It's all a matter of will, but I just don't like getting out to bed and going to bed so my pattern moves forward by 1-6 hours every day if I have nothing to stay awake for.

I genuinely don't understand how people can sleep until 5pm. It baffles me! Even when i'm super tired i cant sleep past 11am. On a normal day (nothing to wake up for but a decent night's sleep) i'll be up at 8:30/9. It's just a waste!

Same, I'm up between 8-9 every day.

I agree, in my experience people that can sleep this long aren't actually asleep the whole time, they tend to wake up every now and again then drift off back to sleep. I just get up when I wake up so I don't have a chance to drift back off again.

Dont get a fix on sugary snacks, stop eating after 8pm. Eat normally.

You will be suprised how much it helps after a few days.

My body clock is a total mess, go to bed late morning and wake up around dinner time, sleep pattern shifts forward a couple of hours everyday when I'm not at uni and I can sleep for 15 hours at a time, I can't get out of bed in the morning without taking Vyvanse.

It's all about food.

Studies on Jetlag suggest that if you eat your meals at the regular times, your body will adjust easier.

So get up early, eat breakfast pre 9, eat lunch pre 1pm, eat dinner (or tea if you are a real man from up norf) pre 7pm.
