Kids comp (help)

Evening everyone.

Basically my little nieces computer is BSODing left right and centre and is incredibly sluggish even when running very basic web browsing. Her hard drive sounds like it's throwing a fit when she executes basically any program at all.

My intentions are to fix that and maybe buy a few little upgrades for it.

I have some minidump files from her computer so first things first, where's the best place to get these analyzed and would you mind if I posted the results here?

My computer knowledge is decent but I'm by no means a expert.

What HDD is it? Is it old?
Could try HDTune to see if it's failing/bad sectors.

Cheers man, I'm not 100% on what her specs are. It was built by a friend of the family. I'll take a look for HDTune and give that a whirl tomorrow night, as well as jotting down specs. I was going to install everest home edition to get specs but honestly it blue screens so quick I doubt I'd have a chance to download and install it. Any idea what program or website is best for analyzing dump files?

Hard Disk Sentinel is another handy piece of software for checking a HDD. Does sound like that might be the cause of the problems.

Who crashed is often good at finding out what is causing the bluescreens as well.

Thanks again.

I'm going to check in tomorrow hopefully with some more relevent information and then I can get this computer on the road to recovery with a few upgrades.
