Son plays for a local team, under 10s.

Ground has started to get a bit boggy lately, as it always does in winter if it hasn't gone really cold.

So he needs some studded boots. The choice is terrible. There are some plain black ones around, but of course he doesn't want those he wants the multicolour things that all the pro's wear.

Shops (well only really Sports Direct as there is no other significant high street sports shop these days), all they sell is bladed boots labelled for firm ground.

Any other Dads have a difficult experience buying kids football boots?

Strange, the store must be pretty crap if it only sells blades. The SD website has loads of 'proper' boots. Hell even my local independent (before it closed) had a good selection of kids studded boots.

The online store does have more choice yeah. In the shop (been to two local ones), its terrible. I hate buying things like shoes online, especially so for kids. There is so much variability in sizing. I want to take him to a shop, try on a selection, and have a choice to buy from. Just doesn't seem to happen these days.

Choice in store is always pretty bad, when we go in to get boots for my 10 year old we just ask them what they have in his size because, out of all the boots they have on show, you will usually only get about 2 or 3 pairs actually available.

What I think is a pretty bad practice is they charge you 5 pounds to have your online order delivered to your local store.
