My 8yr old son recently did an "arrive and drive" at a local kart track and he loved it so I booked him into a 1 hour intro to karting session and again he really enjoyed it.
He is now booked in for a 2 hours Kart School session during half term and he seems keen to get into it more seriously and start racing. His friend has just started racing in the Honda Cadet class and got a kart recently. His dad is a mobile mechanic so has a van and the knowledge to race/maintain the kart.
I can get a 2nd hand kart for about £750 but what sort of runnning costs can I expect? The Honda is no longer regulation sealed so it can be worked on by anyone. I am not a mechanic so would I be able to look after the mechanical side of the kart myself?
Any advice would be great.
