cant see that anyone else posted so heres my chance :D

anyone else been watching this? i think it was eip 3 last night and todays prog is Lamb yummmy

it has been a insight as to how they kill these lilltle guys but its not made me want to stop eating meat and after last nights eip i would be more then happy to eat baby cow now as either way there going to be killed for food or the farmer just kills them as there no good to him

so anyone else like watching this? and you watching tonight? :D

They actually asked me to go on that programme - FACT! I couldn't do it as I was starting a new job, shame really :(

I tried watching it but couldn't stand the pace, it seemed like they were desperately trying to fill out the running time. "Welcome to kill it........cook it..........(another huge pause) eat it." I also didn't get the basis for the show, that "we demand young flesh" or something like that. I would say that 95% of people haven't a clue as to how old the animals they eat are.

O man thats a shame

why was you one of the lucky ones? (if you dont mind me asking?)

Through Facebook strangely. I was a member of a farming group (My mum works for Farmers Guardian) and they wanted someone who was adament they could go and see the animal, then kill it, then eat it. I've done that to a certain degree before...killed poultry etc - but never beef, lamb, pork.
They were quite keen to get me down, but would only pay expenses. If I hadn't have been starting this new job I would have been on it!

lol u gotta love facebook

shame u missed it but even better u got a new job so all worked out ok in the end i guest

Yeah - You never know! I could have been the brightest new presenting talent and had my own show about food. I also could have won the lottery the same day - odds are similar! :)

Basically they run a high voltage through the sheep's skull, which actually paralyses it.

When it's stunned.. they slash it's neck with a bit knife.

i've been watching this programme all week and i must say that the slaughtering techniques used are much more humane that those that i've seen on previous programmes on this subject.

doesn't the electric shock make it unconscious rather than just paralysed?

Bit of both. Depends on the animal. I've seen some still move - but not controlled movement.

Stuff like this, and generally to a lesser degree, always make me WANT to be a vegetarian. I just don't see it as healthy. For instance, I have never ever seen a fat/plump/athletic vegetarian. I'm not being all might and judging, I actually haven't. Plus a vegan friend of mine is ill ALL the time it scares me.

Mmmmm..... cow....

I thought the idea of the shock was so that the animal didnt feel anything? Watching a programme like this last year made me turn vegitarian, as I felt I was being a bit hypocrite eating meat without being able myself to kill it... anyways back on topic....

I seen it last night, the bleeding to death thing got to me a bit especially when you seen the eyes roll into the back of the calf's head. I was ok after that though its just like meat once that has happened.

I didn't especially like seeing the shooting either but its not like they can be kept as pets. I wish there was a less violent way of killing them, can't they be put to sleep like an unwanted dog or an ill cat.

Its messed with my head a bit

they cant be "put to sleep" if there to be used as meat if they just being put down then yes but i would think its the cost

a bullet is going to be fair cheeper and theres no vet needed
