..........Is what the animal right activist want for a little bear pup known as ****. They want hm dead because he aint living life like a normal bear - apparently domesticating bear is cruel and unatural. So should killing be the answer?

Animal rights activists are lobbying for an abandoned polar bear cub born at Berlin Zoo to be put down. They say domesticating the bear is cruel and unnatural. The bundle of fur called **** became something of a superstar at the zoo when he was ignored by his mother. He has been bottle fed and comforted by zoo staff ever since and has even been snapped by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz for an environmental protection campaign.
Animal rights activists say domesticating the bear will prevent him forming relationships with other bears in the future. Ruediger Schmeidel from the Foundation for Bears is adamant "they cannot domesticate a wild animal", as he continues to clash with the zoo over ****'s welfare.
But Andre Schuele, chief vet at Berlin Zoo said: "Polar bears live alone in the wild. I see no logical reason why this bear should be killed." He added: "Polar bears are under threat of extinction, and if we feed the bear with a bottle it has a good chance of growing up and perhaps becoming attractive as a stud for other zoos."

So to kill or not to kill is the question.

No one in their right mind would want this animal put to death.

Animal activists are the scum of the earth and the sooner they are outlawed the better.

Quoted for truth! If only polar bears didnt grow to the size of a shed i'd have that as a pet :D

I juts read about this in the Sun. Pretty sad really. They should leave it alone and keep looking after it.

I dont think they would be letting it into the wild so where is the problem with humans looking after it. It would grow up to be docile and domesticated and maybe wildlife experst could learn a few things from it. Maybe.

Damn cute though and I would love to have one as a pet. Lioness too.

Apparently a few months ago they had a similar situation with a sloth, and killed it.

Clearly the sloth wasnt photogenic enough to be saved.

No to killing him, just take a look hes so cute!! :) Plus the principle is wrong to. I think though he might have trouble in the wild coping, other bears may attack him or he may not understand survival.

Really? Thats pretty tragic if i'm honest. I don't understand how animal rights protestors have any bearing on what a zoo decides to do with any animal, domesticated or not? I suppose they just kick up fuss until they get what they want?

Just pop a fully grown polar bear in a shed with an animal rights activist, shake, wait 5 mins, then problem solved.

Polar bear gets a feed and we've got one less hippy!! :D

So long as it has a suitable (ie, huge) enclosure at the zoo then it should be looked after. A polar bear in a small enclosure experiences a madness that would surely be worse than death. Very upsetting when you see them pacing around in tiny enclosures :(

Why kill it? their reason is ridiculous. Contradicting themself completely, they work to protect animals but now they want to kill one  and for that reason? prats imo.

Unfortunately it's another case of tabloid nonsense. Someone from the zoo was on radio 5 at lunch time.

They thought about not intervening and letting the cub die at birth, and the animal rights people think they should have done so, but they didn't, so now they will have a semi tame, human reared polar bear called **** to deal with.

Urmm still not getting why there is any argument for killing the Bear.

You either let nature take it's course from day one, or you choose to intervene. Once that choice has been made you do what you can to honour the choice surely??

One sec though - if we kill it can we make a fur coat out of it or would that be wrong?

What would be an acceptable "hugeness"? If by your logic then no matter how big the cage is or how comfortable it is, it would be driven mad right? Im putting it to you straight then that do you want it killed because it wont be able to get all those conditions it would get in the wild if in a zoo.

Right, They think the bear lives out side out of its own natural way of living

I think they are just a bunch of Hypocrites, I don't see them chasing down there own food with there own 2 hands

I think we Need to put these people to sleep before they breed, We cant have them being out of there natural Habitat now can we
