Ive was doing a major clean up today around the PC. Massive amounts of dust everywhere and I was vacuuming around the pc with it open and I think I was vacuuming too close to it and when I turned the computer back on ive got massive graphics corruption constantly. :(

Is there any way to recover from this?

Could it be the psu on the frizz not supplying enough power or is most likely the graphics card?

It also seems to be only on certain colours. Black is big time corrupted, as its blue but grey and white seem unaffected.

You were vacuming in your pc? lol. Thats not very friendly to the components tbh, you should just use a can of compressed air, thats all i do.

Nothing wrong with giving it a good go with the dyson. I always do mine, never had any problems. I'd rather have my components dust free than covered in dust and 5C+ temps also.

Hoovers can build up slight amounts of static however, the effect static electricity has on modern components is virtually negligable so I wouldn't of thought that hoovering it out would cause any damage.

To the OP: It could be just coincidence although unlikley. Can you try the card in a different machine? Is the fan on the card definatley spinning- graphical corruption is normally a sign of over-heating...

Keep in mind that canned air is all that should be used to rid your computer of the unsightly dust that is heating up your computer. Water and solvents can damage components, and a vacuum should NEVER be used on your computer unless it is a specialized computer vacuum. Normal vacuums have huge static electricity build-ups and can instantly kill various computer parts.

No big deal really and I'm not trying to prove a point or win an argument, just warning is all. :)

The fan is spinning fine and I cant believe that its just a coincidence.

If I turn the monitor off and then come back to it later the corruption is worse when I turn the monitor back on but after a little while of it being back on it calms down a little.

I'm now thinking that maybe its my monitor? Would a tft on the fritz go all sparkly on screen?

The gfx card is not overheating. Its at 48c at idle.

i bought 6 cans of compressed air and they all felt like damp air so i stick to the hoover with a pip i cut a hole into so the suction isnt huge

Doesn't compressed air blow instead of suck? and I guess it won't remove much dust like the dyson does?

I'll stick with the dyson :)

Bad news, I just swapped my Neovo F419 beautiful 19" tft once I found a vga-dvi adaptor with a crappy cheap brand 2+ year old 17" tft im using on the spare pc and ive got no screen corruption.

I guess this means my monitor's dead or rather dying :( More expensive to replace than a graphics card or psu.

The static from the vacuum cleaner must have messed up the monitor. Its only a year and half old too.

Do you guys think there is any way to revive the monitor? It would be a shame (and expensive) to have to replace it.

What make and model is the monitor? for instance my samsung tft 930bf and all other samsung tfts come with 3 year warranty. Its also prolly or can be cheap nowadays to get a new monitor, or at least as cheap as a graphics card.

And compressed air gets right in there and removes all dust, if you know what your doing. ;)

Its a Neovo F419 19" monitor and ive just seen on their website that there is a 3 year warranty.

I've just emailed customer support. Hopefully they can and will fix my monitor for free.
