According to Kimi, Lotus have not paid him at all this season, so far. They were late paying him last season. Can't blame him for wanting to leave.

wow thats pretty crazy

something like that can really damage your motivation to deliver results for them. Wonder if it's affected him at all.

If Hulk goes to Lotus, i'd be very happy.

Sounds like Lotus need money unfortunately :( Although as much as I liked Hulk to begin with, I don't like his lack of loyalty to his teams. Even at the start of the season he was talking about where to move after Sauber.

I'm not so sure, Williams were quick to dump him and he had to patiently sit out a year at Force India, so maybe he feels he has to take any opportunity to better his situation he can... Unfortunately loyalty doesn't seem to really count for much and that works both ways.

Don't think he brings any money with him, so he has to try to overcome that also.

i dont know if i will be able to stomach watching if lotus end up going the paid driver route :(
when will a team that needs a paid driver win the WCC? never!

loyalty in F1? are you serious? even a "nice guy" like Frank Williams backstabbed A Prost and recruited Senna when Alain's only condition to joining the team was not to let Senna in -> it was written in the contract lol

I could have understood Kimi going to Red Bull for a winning car. but seriously he is just too greedy in my book. he was paid $50m back in the day at Ferrari, I wonder how much he is charging now. probably why Red Bull didn't sign him - and I agree with them

Schumacher won plenty with Marlboro :)

marlboro were at Ferrari because Ferrari are Ferrari? Where as satander appear to be there just because alonso is
anyway I meant it jokingly

It's not like alonso is only in a seat because of a sponsor unlike some drivers
anyway sponsors he brings is just a bonus to the team

most WDC's could be considered pay drivers with their advertising value and sponsor appeal
maybe not button though :D

True, loyalty is probably the wrong word to use. I guess I'm just a sucker for the PR crap drivers spout talking about how their new team is x times better than their old and they've got full faith in how its all going etc - even Kimi can manage this side of things mostly. Much prefer that to the 'I want to go somewhere better' Hulk seems to always come out with which just seems a bit of an 'I want' approach which irritates me :D

But then again there's not many up & coming drivers I'm too fussed about really, don't get the fuss about Di Resta and would much rather see someone like Bianchi or a total rookie given a chance in a better car to mix it all up a bit :)

Apparently, he was eventually paid around £15m last season. He is on a basic salary of £7m and the extra he earns is 50k euro per point.

I think Vettel is on something like £12m, Hamilton £17m and Alonso £18m.

Will be interesting to find out what he will get this time around at Ferrari.
