Kinda disappointed with the Xbox series controller

Hi guys, I just got the new Xbox series controller and I'm wondering what other people's experiences with it are?

My main gripe is I feel like the face buttons are softer / require less resistance compared to the original Xbox one controller; it is definitely the case when comparing my two controllers and it's the only thing I don't really like about it.

Do other people have a similar experience or do I have a possibly defective unit?

Appreciate your thoughts.

Cheers

Besides the grip they added I don't feel the Series X/S controllers improve much.

I certainly feel Duel Sense for PS5 is best pad currently.

Microsoft best pad is still the 360 pad imo

Xbox series pad is great and to me no different from the xbox one pad, other than the extra grip. The reason the xbox pad hasn't improved much is because why change something that is already good. Xbox could have added new features like on the duel sense I guess, but the general design and layout of the xbox pad is perfect.

I really like the series pad, the only issue I have with it and assume it's due to the switch to USB type C, but when I plug in the cable to charge the pad it turns the pad off for a second or two. All inputs stop working and if you have a headset plugged in the sounds turns off as well. I don't recall this happening on the old style pad, that was just a slight stutter as you plugged the cable in.

Agreed. I was hoping for more from the Series X controller. It's decent enough, just not really an improvement or as good as the PS5 pad, which feels quality. The Switch Pro controller is still the best tho - is vanishes in your hands.

I kind of feel that the PS5/PS4 pad is better overall then the switch one but they're close in terms of quality.

The Xbox one/series controllers are noticeably worse than Sony and Nintendo's offerings IMO.

I like it, really comfortable, light, responsive. A dual sense equivalent will not doubt drop if it’s something that becomes utilised as the norm and doesn’t end up just being a gimmick.

My thoughts are along the same lines. Seems like game pads need to be simple to be functional and remain reliable long term. Whilst I love the dual sense pads they have more to go wrong and so I feel the reliability could be an issue. I've already had one pad develop serious stick drift after only a couple of weeks worth of average gaming. In addition, the haptic capabilities are not good for battery life. I also find, like vibration generally, they get in the way of accuracy and aiming. The series controllers are a quiet evolution. They work well. Im not convinced the features in dual sense pads will ever really be more than a player preference or design gimmick but I suppose time will tell.

I like the new Xbox pads tbh I don’t really notice much difference from the One pads other than a button I never use. Never been a fan of the PlayStation controller stick layout gives me cramps.

Get the elite v2 that's a great controller. It doesn't have the awesome haptic feedback of the ps5 but it feels nice to hold its built solid, has a massive battery life and very customisable. The base controller for the series x is pathetic - no recharge battery, no customisation, crap d pad, feels cheap and plasticy and only has last generation vibrations with no haptics

i went back to my xbox one controller to transfer some stuff from my old console. That controller feels horrible after an Elite v2, forgot how loose the sticks felt too.

Shame the elite is expensive but its worth it. Too add some balance, ive had no issues with it either

There are a lot of design flaws and common issues.

I can’t recommend getting one as the Elite V1 and Series standard sticks are significantly more accurate, although some people don’t seem to notice how huge the dead zones on the V2 sticks are and get on with it just fine.

I should hope so for £160! My mate has one and it does sound nice. tbh i'm fine with the Series X pad. It being the worst of the current gen pads doens't mean it's bad. Until experiencing otherswise, the Switch Pro pad is still my benchmark.
