I spent most of yesterday going over the various components for a new pc. I would like your esteemed opinions on the system i hope to build.

MEMORY---Crucial 2GB (2 X 1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C5 Dual Channel Kit £23
HARD DRIVE-----Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM £38

FLOPPY-----Sony Floppy Drive - Black £6.89

GRAPHICS---Gainward GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £137.99

£577

The case was the main bugbear for me. I didn't want anything expensive as the system will not be overclocked.

Much Appreciated

Looks fine to me, except maybe you should take a look at the XFX ATI 4850 graphics card. As far as I know it outperforms the 9800GTX or at least matches it and is at a cheaper price. Or if you want to stick with nvidia, buy the Ocuk Value GTX260 at £156 as it will outperform the card you have selected and is not much more expensive.

More expensive cases are quite often a good thing. They help keep the inards cool, look better and generally are easier to build inside due to less sharp cutting finger objects and better layouts. Though having said that, your case looks fine. I'd just thought I'd explain why cases can be so expensive.

Drop the 9800 and go for the GTX250 on special, it's the same card.

Also may want faster memory if you plan to overclock at a later date.

Also I hear good things about the cheaper Coolermaster cases 335 I think.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll take a closer look at those graphics cards......and the coolermaster 335 case. I know the more expensive cases generally will keep the components cooler, better air flow etc......but i'm just trying to find a happy medium.

I was going to buy the akasa eclipse 62.....last year. Don't really want to pay £120 for it.........although i could if i was 'pushed'

Ah, when i did the original calculation i didn't include the price of the graphics card.....i was still in several minds with that one.

Thanks for putting that list together ( even if it did add up to the sign of the beast)......i'm still currently streamlining the other...

Actually, i havn't included a CPU cooler.....probably go for the arctic cooling freezer 7.
