i thought id ask as i did a search and never found specifically what i need to know. ;)

i am thinking about getting the kinect for my 2 daughters xmas they are 10 and 13, they have a wii with fitness board, they have the xbox 360 with guitars and mics. If i got them kinect is it something they will play with long term and not get bored with it quickly? Its a bit expensive just to have as a novelty factor. :D

cheers rab

I would say get it, It's far better than the Wii I would recommend Kinect Sports Season 1 & 2 and Dance Central they're a great laugh :)

Stevenson, lol I used to work near there. Mad little place.

I've had quick shots of them, but it depends I spose if it stays set up my nephew has just got one for crimbo but I reckon he will get bored of it quickly.

my kids love the wii, they play a wide range of games on it but the fit board rarely see's daylight lol, the kinect does look fun for them, i suppose if it gets abandoned i can always punt it lol :)

yeah lovely syevenston (not) im not from here thanks the lord, its a bit of a dump ha ha. We have plenty of room in the living room so it will be left set up . I dont fancy trying it, a want to keep my dignity lol, im 42 after all lol :D

if they dont use the wii balance board i wouldnt waste your money on kinect.

my 7year old barely ever uses it, the kinect games are mostly poop cheap cashins like the majority of wii titles are.

Whilst Dance Central is a better game Just Dance 3 is better for kids/wife/groups.

Sesame Street Once Upon a Monster is great but might be a bit 'young' for your kids. My 7 year old really liked it.

Check out the new Disney Kinect game, it's by David Braben and Frontier's last Kinect game was actually surprisingly very good (Kinectimals).

I had it for my kids and ended up getting rid, u have to calibrate it and all sorts of stuff that just wastes time. Plus it would never map my son in correctly and always had him kneeling down. You need loads of space as well. Stick with the wii.

Yeah this was a problem with the early games but they've sorted all this out.
With Just Dance 3, Gunstringer and Sesame Street they've worked it so little kids can just walk in and out and it doesn't stop the games. It tracks my 3 year old great in those games.

I did as the op last christmas, as the kids love the wii (infact my son is on it now) Kinect was a waste of time. The kids wanted it before Christmas played on it on the day then put the Wii on on boxing day and I don't think they looked twice at it after that.

well a lot of mixed reviews, seems a bit of a hit or a miss, i have took the plange and ordered one anyway, i got it for 95 inc delivery, if it turns out to be a flop ill punt it, im short of ideas for xmas anyway lol. Oh and we do have plenty of room in front of the tv.

thanks for all the replies guys

you need about 8ft :P

I enjoy mine, but then I do my main gaming on PC.

Kinect Sports, Your Shape, Sports Active 2 and Just Dance 3 are all fun for me.
