Kinect: "your order is now being released for packing"

Yep, my COD Black Ops was dispatched yesterday but isnt out till next week. Usually they are held with the courier service until the day before release in time for delivery.
 
You should have had an email a week or so ago explaining you would get the dispatch email early.

I ordered on 2nd and just got the email you mentioned, either way posting something week before release is drastic anyhow it’s fine by me as long as it arrives.

What games are you getting with it OP?

Kinect Adventures, nothing else took my fancy. Actually the main reason I am ordering the Kinect is I cancelled GT5 SE (reason: sheer amount of Pea taking by Sony, Polyphony etc and my other half said she'll get a copy with steering wheel for xmas :D)

Not 150 quid interested though

It's to stop you cancelling the pre-order when you spot it cheaper elsewhere.
Though I would have thought Kinect sold out on pre-orders alone, thus negating this tactic.
Doesn't bode well for day 1 sales maybe?

another reason i reckon is Kinect may tank like the Hindenburg once review embargos are lifted after the 5th/US release date, leaving mugs like me with a posh webcam to navigate the awful new xbox dashboard

Send it back under distance selling acts? You're not forced to keep it as any online purchase can be sent back under cooling off statutory rights I thought.

I’m keen to read the reviews of this ‘revolutionary’ bit of kit. If only for the giggles or to be put into my place - as I feel this'll bomb hard. :eek:

I was the same till I read the Edge feature on it, some of the comments from developers, when they theorised the use of it WITH a standard controller in the hand, kind of swung my opinion. Not much though, I reckon I went from absolutely convinced it would bomb, to just plain certain :D
 
I still can't see why people put up a huge fuss over Kinect. Unless they use it for games I might actually play, it would interest me but it looks like its made for shovel ware.
 
I placed my order yesterday and got the same email as you today. They seem to be the only place with any pre orders left, everywhere else has sold out. I pre ordered because we were looking at a red Wii anyway and if it is good then I want one (although in the past I've said I thought it would be crap!). If it's not and the reviews on Friday are bad, then I'll just send it back!
 
I orderd one for the kids for crimbo as a joint present (no controlers and a 3 year old is pure win in my book) They love the wii and PS move so this will complete all that.

I would be more interested in an official Microsoft Keyboard and mouse than this waste of space, would also like the original dashboard back!
 
Best thing MS could do this xmas is to do a Nintendo and purposely make it seem like it's limited for launch. Create the panic buying and looking for Kinect and everyone will desperately try to get their hands on one.

I'm wondering if we ordered from the same place? Cheapest place and bundled with a choice of extra game?

I had .. "I am really sorry to advise but due to the high demand for Kinect Bundle we are unable to guarantee dispatch of your order in time for the release date. We expect dispatch of your order to be week ending the 19th November 2010."

So not too much of a wait but I ordered 24th July!

Just wait till a few days after release maybe be some used/returned ones around from people who havent got a big enough space. Seems strange you ordered pretty close to when the pre-orders went up, does seem weird perhaps they made a mistake in sending you that email.
