Kinesiology Tape use?

A couple of physios I have had used it on me and it last a couple of hours (I sweat a lot).

Research says it does not very much at all and I would echo that based on experience (shoulder); I have a bro who swears by it, however...

I understand that there is very little evidence confirming or denying it's purpose but there are things where I could see it working, such as Osgood-Slatter disease and from what I've seen it is excellent for vascular supply and bruising etc. I've also heard how it helps people with arm pump, in particular motorbike racers. It would be the build up of lactic acid causing the muscle to remain contracted. Because it stops the body resuming normal activity it helps to ease it. I'm still a bit sceptical as placebo effect plays a huge part but I'm remaining open to it because there is nothing to disprove it.

It would be interesting to hear how it has helped people who have used it as I know a lot of athletes use it.

Mmmmmmm... Whilst absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, there is - IIRC - a fair amount of evidence demonstrating no effect.

A lot athletes use it because they are being paid/supported to achieve results, and anything that helps (even a placebo) is fair game. GPs and antibiotics for viral conditions are the same: patients can take the prescribed treatment and feel better, even if the antibiotic is just there to stimulate the kidneys.

But if you find relief in using it, then great. I would rather spend the money on overpriced compression leggings. ;)

The interesting thing about the placebo effect is that the better the placebo, there more effective it is. Give someone a fake pill, and they will feel better. Give someone a fake injection, and they feel much better and tell you how much more effective the injection was than the pill.

Dunno where on the scale that tape goes, but I'm sure if you convince people it's great, there will be a placebo effect and some people will swear by what a great product it is.

Placebo effect is even more effective on animals - i.e. they fed Cocaine in water to mice once and the mice went crazy. They did the same with just water and the mice went crazy again for example.
Kinesiology tape works very effectively on animals apparently.
