Is anybody getting this? I've been on the fence about this for a while but I think I will take the plunge and go for it. If you are getting it, what are you getting it for? PS3 or 360?

from my own experience with kof 96, kof 98 and kof 2002, the kof series have always been pretty dire, both graphically and game play. so i am going to give this a pass and focus on umvc3.

I built an arcade stick in the style of my old arcade with the main intention of playing King of Fighters. Been hammering '95 lately, since it was released on PSN, but it's '96 - '99 I'm really eager for.

KoF was my fighting staple back in the 90's, Tekken, Mortal Kombat and SF [insert weekly variant] came and went, but everyone in the arcade always went back to KoF.
I even went down to the UK championships with one of my mates who was competing, can't recall what year, '98 I think. He didn't get very far, but I got a perfect in the first round against Ryan Hart, he hammered me for the rest of the match mind.

Good times.

yeh bc umvc3 is such a top quality game and has great gameplay to boot

day1 purchase for me, 12 was a let down but they learnt a lot from it and from playing this in the arcades its a much much better game.

360.

At the end of the day, the joystick is as important while playing this game as any think, especially as the top players on-line will no doubt have a £200 one(I hear the new Street Fighter releases need to be played on top joysticks for serious players). Can't beat the Neo joystick, I think I would kick some ass on-line if I could use it!

Must say, my favourite mag GamesTM rate these new KOF's games highly, so maybe they have been highly modified to suit the standard 360 pads etc.

I take it you're being sarcastic?

The best sticks can be had for ~£75.

SFIV has such slack inputs that a pad is just as good.

Slack inputs are exactly what you don't want, they aren't precise enough hence most serious players buy expensive sticks(You were right about the joystick prices, there is a great HORI one for sale at around the price you said).

Having to buy an expensive joystick put me off a couple of months ago, I would have bought one now tbh but I have enough fighting games on my Neo Geo.

sf4 has slack inputs. its built into the game, no controllers or stick will change that. most new fighting games have a lot of input leniency and huge reversal window to help beginner do stuff.
