King size mattress

Go to a shop and try some different ones. I did and the difference is amazing.
Don't think I'd want to buy online without trying

Laying on one in a shop for 30 seconds tells you nothing. As you've seen John Ryan come hugely recommended here - myself included - and they do no quibble returns if you don't get on with them after having actually slept on them.

They do but they only do the no quibble return once.

I stupidly agreed to having a 2nd mattress from them after the 1st one didn't work out (too hard) dropped from a hard to a medium spring and £330 more expensive and my missus wakes up crying in pain some mornings.

Had an argument with John Ryan about it and they say as a gesture of good will they will take back the 2nd mattress with a 10% restocking fee and I have to pay the £75 courier fees,
so thats £159, yeh thanks JR :(

EDIT - og and to mention the mattresses are super thick so normal sheets don't fit, we haven't bought any sheets yet (ours are already deep sheets) so not sure where you buy "super" deep sheets from.

Interesting! Does your mrs have back issues to be waking up crying?

Yeah we got our deep sheets from John Lewis. Everywhere else except Dunelm come too short, even if they're advertised as deep, and the Dunelm ones just aren't that great generally.

We ended up getting a Artisan Bespoke 002 with the divan and headboard from John Ryan just before Christmas.

It's a great bed, but as has been said they're very very deep!. When you pair it with two mattress toppers from Soak & Sleep as well then it's huuuuuge! :D

For us JR were great to deal with, but we didn't have any problems.

I've just bought a JR Origins Pocket 2000 and it is very firm but also very supportive. They pack a lot of fillings in which makes the upholstery very firm.

If it's too firm or you prefer something to sink into a bit, a decent mattress topper will sort it out or even a duvet under the sheet helps.
