So news from D23 is that we are getting the 2nd part of re-releases for Kingdom Hearts.

Playable games included are:

Kingdom Hearts 2 - Final Mix
Birth By Sleep - Final Mix

Remaster cinematics:

Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded

Bit of a shame that we won't be seeing a re release of Dream Drop Distance on PS3, but maybe after this one! :)

Kingdom Hearts 2 reMix

Anyone else excited for this?

Super excited! :D Woke up to some excellent news about it this morning.

Kingdom Hearts 2 and BBS are definitely my favourite games in the series, not too bothered about Re:Coded itself not being in there as I felt it was one of the poorest KH games. I still need to get around to completing 1.5HD...

I've not even started 1.5HD yet as work has been incredibly busy over the last couple of months.

Funny thing I've just noticed is that the 1.5HD guide is apparently going to be sent to me for this Thursday, so that ties up pretty well with when I will be able to play it! :D

Do you think theyll bundle both in at some point? As I dont see KH3 coming out anytime soon, but right now I just dont have the time to dedicate to KH1.5 let alone 2.5

Hopefully it turns up as a bundle sale on PSN soon, I didnt even know there were disc versions of this. Again another series I missed out on...

ps3ud0

Which of these is considered the best? Never played KH and heard good things about them...oh and I'd rather play on Vita but I have a ps3.

Either KH2 or Birth By Sleep is my favourite game, although in typical JRPG terms it can be a little disorientating jumping into a game later in the series if you haven't played the earlier games.

Saw this yesterday, the game looks good, although a little basic. But it gives you an idea what they want to do with it. More surprised that Sora's look seems to be exactly the same as his look in KH2. I was hoping to at least see a costume upgrade for him like in every other game! Maybe that'll come later. :)

I'm going to throw my votes in for Kingdom Hearts 2 and Birth By Sleep as well, definitely my favourite games in the series. It's a shame Square Enix never released BBS digitally, it would have been incredible on the Vita. You'll still want to start with the first if you do plan on getting into them though, and work your way through them in order of release instead of jumping in with the prequel and then moving on.

Deffo this ! if you start up KH2 without playing any of the other games you will just be thinking WTF is going on here !?! :D

KH1 is worth a play through at the very least imo, especially the 1.5remix they have "HD-a-fied" it extremely well and looks amazing on the PS3. It gives you enough story to jump into KH2, but even that can be a slight mind ****.

One of my favourite SE games though I have to admit. The story is fantasic.

Love the KH series, playing 1.5 at the moment.
I've finished the first and just playing through chain of memories which i haven't played since it was on gameboy... huge different...
I must say the fact that BBS is part of 2.5 is selling it for me.
I still have the second KH on PS2 but i've never played BBS, i was tempted to buy it on my PSP not long ago and then heard about 2.5 and now I'm really excited ^^

The only thing that seems to be bothering me while playing through the remastered is that it seems like Sora has two different faces.. the really detailed one, with good lip sync and then when he gets a certain distance away it just turns blurry and well.. very basic and i notice it every time it changes.. which it does at least a few times in every cutscene.
I don't want it to be perfect the story is good enough to make me play it no matter what but it's something that i though a remastered version would overcome.

Jumping from 1 to 2 can definitely be a shock to the system! It's a good thing the HD Remix had such a good treatment, and the fact that they included Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days, should help explain a lot more about what happened in between the games in-case anyone starts up the 2nd and goes "wtf?". Luckily I had played CoM on the GBA before the 2nd came out, but the PS2 version is definitely a lot more enjoyable from both a story and gameplay perspective (and again, excellent work has been done on the HD version) so it would be a good idea to include it in any playthroughs before venturing into KH2.

Yeah there's quite a difference between the 2 versions :D very happy that they included the Final Mix in the EU version as well. I caved some time ago and bought a PSP to play BBS, you're in for a very big treat. Even with Dream Drop Distance being on the scene, BBS is still by far one of the best looking handheld titles in the series (and imo the best all around of all the handheld games), and I really liked how it went down quite a different route with seeing the story from the perspective of 3 different characters as well as finally having some things explained (like the history behind Sora and "Roxas").

And about the faces - don't quite understand why they did that... I'm sure there's a reason for it, but it does seem quite odd when even in combat he has this really detailed looking face, and then it'll randomly go flat in parts of some cutscenes. Hopefully they'll make all the faces detailed all the time in 2.5 :p

I must say... i tried dream drop distance..
I actually upgraded my 3DS to the XL cause i wanted the best experience for it.. and i didn't enjoy it, regretted playing it after but i don't know why.
I got annoyed with the fact that id be running around as sora (i like to take me time explore everything there is to explore and just mess a round) and then before i can do anything im suddenly asleep and waking up as rikku and then by the time i get round to doing anything I'm sora again and it just generally threw me off, replying the same map twice at the same time...
I don't mind revisiting worlds but the fact that i was doing it with two different characters at the same time but back to front..
I don't know whether this was just at the start but as you may tell, i didn't play long of it at all.
Too much time stroking my virtual pets to do anything on it i guess...

I was very disappointed with DDD for those exact same reasons. I forced myself through it for the story though, it's one of the only Kingdom Hearts games I do not want to play through again (358/2 Days and Re:Coded being the others), or at least I'm in no rush to. It was even more frustrating when you'd just about reached a bossfight, and then you Drop over to Riku, get to the same boss, and then you're back to Sora. Like you I enjoy exploring, be it looking for treasure chests or just having fun being in the world so DDD immediately put me off it in that regard. It doesn't really change that much later into the game, sure you can extend the Drop time (or just instantly drop back to the other character), but it's still timed at the end of the day, and you're still constantly treading the same ground again minutes after the other character was just there. I'd have liked it a lot more if it wasn't timed, they'd dropped the Nintendogs party members and features, and just tackled the story like they did in BBS where you select a campaign at the start to follow through as a character. You could just watch all the cutscenes on Youtube and save yourself the trouble of playing through it.
