Hi,

I am trying to run 2x2GB DDR2 Kingston 1066 (KHX8500D2K2) on Asus P5K-E in dual channel but no matter what settings and what speed I set in bios, memtest does never complete. If I put each dimm alone on motherboard (single channel) at 1066, memtest works fine (passes at least one test, didn't wait for another). Any ideas?

I have tried mem voltage up to 2,4, nb voltage up to 1,4 and set manually FSB to 266MHz, DDR speed to 1066.
*Update* Running memtest 3.4 produces no problems at all...Only 3.6 stops at the very beginning.

thank you in advance

Is the system stable apart from failing one version of memtest?

Are you using the 5 5 5 15 timings to test?

If you are you could try knocking it back to less aggressive timings, 5 5 5 18, just to see if you can get the pair working together on memtest 3.6. If that doesn't work you could try the 800 Mhz settings and see if that actually works? If it doesn't it could just be memtest 3.6 quirk on your sytsem?

If the 800Mhz settings do work you could slowly work your way up and see where the memory gives out. But what this would tell you, if your system is stable and works on another version of memtest, i'm afraid is limited.

Edit: This is the memtest verison i was directed to use by other, more experienced, forum members when i had problems -link.

Good luck.

Plec
