Hi,

I got some Kingston Hyper Beast RAM - a 32 GB Kit - Its also available in a 64 GB Kit which comes with its own cooling fans. I'm just a newbie system builder for my own computers of which there won't be many and wandered can 2 x 32 GB kits be combined to form 64 GB's in say LGA 2011 where the Asus P9X79 Pro has 8 DDR3 slots? - or do you have to buy a complete 64 GB kit?

Personally I thought 2 x 32 GB would work - and it seems like a stupid question..........

Next question - is it essential to have cooling fans over the RAM? - If you are not planning to overclock it?-

As much info as possible please.....thanks

edit: Just read that the Beast RAM has heat spreaders on them for dissipation---

No need for extra ram cooling. Even the heatspreaders are for looks only..

Why do you think you need over 16gb?

64gb is a waste of time for most people. Infact anything over 16gb usually is on X79 platform. You usually take a performance hit moving up with more modules and larger sizes.
