I just got Some new Memory: Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-039-KS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=817

It runs ok @ 667 & 800 but my rigs becomes very unstable when I increase it to 1066 (even with the volts upped to 2.2v).

System runs fine with my old memory.

Even put CPU back to stock settings and still having same problems.

I would hate to have to return it to OcUK as I just got it along with Win7 but I just can't seem to get it to work.

Am I missing something?

Suggestions please.......

When i received my Kingston RAM, the small sticker on the modules stated that they were rated at 2.3 volts, not the 2.2 advertised. They work absolutely fine for me at 2.3...so maybe try that, especially if it states it on your modules aswell

No sticker on the RAM.

OcUK site states 2.2v and Kingston site states the same.

:(

Only thing I can possibly think of trying now is to manually set the RAM timings as they are currently all set to Auto.

I'm having exactly the same issue on my p35 ds3p mobo.

I installed a Q9550 and 8gb of the above ram.

will only run at 800mhz at the moment.

uppped the ddr2 overvolts to +0.40 to get 2.2v but machine won't post.

I'll keep trying different settings and post back later.

Same problems here.....

Won't run @ 1066Mhz without stability issues.

Defective batch?

I am having to run it @ 800Mhz - 4,4,4,12.

Seems to be running ok with my Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz.

Input all the settings manually and up the NB (MCH) voltage up by one or two increments.

You could up the voltage to 2.3V as some sets do dictate this amount as the default voltage for 1066MHz - but if you do manage to get them stable - i would test to see if you can reduce this.

As mentioned above run memtest - test each stick individually and in different slots. If they fail with the above it's probably an rma...

I've manaaged to get it the best i can for now.

I have 440x8.5= 3.74ghz for my quad core.

leaving the memory divider on auto gives me a speed of 1056mhz.

I upped the ddr2 overvolts to give me 2.3v as per the sticker on the memory and gmch to +0.075. vcore unchanged at 1.2375.

Any higher that 440 it gets unstable.

Before overclocking, i ran memtest for a couple of hours without errors.

cpu-z and memset report my memory timings as 7 7 7 24.

don't know if those timings are any good.

now to see if it's stable in windows for extended periods.
