Hey guys,

I recently brought 8 gb of Kingston HyperX 1066MHz memory

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-039-KS

I have a Q6600 G0 and a Gigabyte EP45-UD3R

The Q6600 is overclocked to 3.00 GHz (333x9) completely stable, but whatever I do I can't seem to get the RAM to run at more than 800.

I've set up the timings and voltage recommended (5 5 5 15 2.1/2V)

The multiplier is 2.40B for 800 MHz, but when I use the next one up 3.20B for 1066 it can never POST.

Prime95 has run for 8 hours with no errors and Memtest has run for 3 hours with no errors.

Is it possible to get it to 1066 as advertised? And does it make any difference?

Does the ram run at 1066mhz with the system at stock?
With 8GB of RAM you will need to up the northbridge voltage a notch or two as your using all memory banks.

If the above works ok you might need to use a different multiplier, I had simular problem on my 2 Gigabyte boards.

I too can't get this ram to run at 1066mhz and i tried to up the nb. I think its a gigabyte board problem. I just had to settle with 800mhz what was a bummer as i got rid of 800mhz ram to buy this hyperX ram.

This is why PC8500 isn't supported by many motherboard manufacturers and is regarded as "overclockers" RAM. You just take that chance. My P35 won't take it but a P45 board i had the other week worked fine.

I know its a long shot, but what about a BIOS update?

I also have 8gb of the stuff in a P5Q-Pro, and whilst i can get it to POST and pass prime for around an hour, sometimes the computer froze with no supposed errors in Prime.

I have to run 5-5-5-15 2.22v, with a northbridge voltage of 1.3v for it to work as it should.

Same problem, couldn't get it to run on my ASUS board, unless set to 5-5-5-18 2.2v. Also tried it with Neo-2FR and same again, though it worked fine on friends P45 with 2.2v. Got fed up with it so swapped for Corsair XMS2 8500 5-5-5-15 2.1v, which works fine on both the Neo-2FR and my board.
