Hi,

I have just received my system components from the OCuk shop, however the ram they have sent me is
Kingston hyper x 4x2gb kit http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-113-KS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

when i should have got kingston hyperx genesis grey 2x4gb kit
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-094-KS

I was planning on building my rig up tommorow so i wanna ask does this make a diffrence to me?. I will be wanting to overclock my cpu but i dont think i will ever need more than 8gb of ram?

will be using MSI Z68A GD55 G3 board and intel i5 2500k

thanks

I theory using 4 sticks of RAM can make overclocking a little more tricky due to the extra strain on the memory controller on the CPU.

With Sandy Bridge it doesn't seem to cause too much trouble but there may be more problems if you're trying for a big overclock.

It's up to you if you want exactly what you paid for and you never know, you might want more RAM one day.

Both of the RAMs have the same frequency so they are both identical but the first has double the sticks. 8 GB of RAM is more than enough for now so don't worry it won't make difference as their both the same. more sitcks can make it harder though

Ahh dont know wether to send it back or not!

there is only £2 differance in price but i was charged for the 4x2gb set so thats ok. the order was over the phone so i got no confirmation.

I am only concerned here about any performance diff. I would like to OC to like 4.5 max in the future but i dont know how that to compares to a "big overclock" as you mentioned. i wouldnt know myself if 4x2gb sticks would cause me any problems doing this?

By big I was thinking more towards 5GHz.

I don't think you'll have any problems with 4 sticks at around 4.5GHz.
