Hi,

What do people make of this stuff for running @ stock speeds?

I heard it was meant to be quite high quality stuff using Hynix chips, is this true?

I use it personally, it runs at correct speeds and I have no problems with it.

I only bought it when I had my Corsair XMS3 on RMA, and haven't even put the corsair back in...

if its the kingston genesis grey mine runs at 1333 (2x2) seems ok ram, ive changed it to 1600 but never changes in cpu-z or msi control centre.

Are you using the latest release of CPUz?

Also are you remembering to 'save' and exit after you changed the setings in the BIOS?

Additional: How are you changing the settings in the BIOS - manually or using the XMP?

EDIT: i've actually just replied to your question in anther post - i'll cut and paste it here:

For simplicity enable the XMP and then manually set the volatage (DRAM) that's required - if it's a Sandybridge setup it should ideally be under 1.58V if your clocking (try 1.5V first and then test for stability via memtest/prime 95 and general use).

yeah saving every time F10 : \
im changing it by the dram freq in bios from the drop down window, changing it from 1333 to 1600 but it never shows it in cpu-z (latest verson) or msi control centre.
Also tried enabling XMP but still shows the same, after each change i save and reboot into windows and check :s
its got me baffled
think the lowest option on the volts is 1.52V would that still be ok to try.
set up
i5 2500k (stock)
aska venom cpu cooler
msi p76a gd65
kingston genesis grey 2x2gig 1600mhz
2x 5770 (crossfire)

In CPUz what is the 'part number' in the SPD tab?

Also what info have you got in the timings tables - post an image if you can?

You should have something 'similar' to this in the timings table:

CorsairMemorySlot2.png

Switch between slots #1 and #3 (using the tab near the top left) and see what they look like.

Are they the same for slot #1 and slot # 3?

Try this if you haven't already:

Go into the BIOS

  • Disable XMP
  • Set the frequency - 1600
  • Set DRAM Timing Mode - Link
  • Then enter the DRAM Timing Mode to set the timings - 9-9-9-27(?)
  • Then set the voltage as required
  • Save and exit
