Since my cheap 750W Evo Labs crappy psu is failing already (not surprised it only cost me £40!), i'm thinking of getting a really decent one for powering my pc and for future add on's aswel so i dont need to change it again.

I've been recommended a Kingwin Mach 1 600W Modular for £68 and was wondering if they are any good?

I've done some reading on them and they seem to have some very very good feedback. There website looks pretty awesome aswel :').

Unheard of doesn't imply rubbish, but unheard of does tend to correlate with rubbish.

A cheap psu is no longer cheap when it catches fire and destroys everything else in your computer. Bad thing to save money on.

Asus M4A785T-M mobo
8gb DDR3 @1333mhz Ram
Phenom 2 x4 955 BE @3.4ghz
Powercolor 5670 512mb card Overclocked @850mhz, 1050mhz
SAMSUNG HD103SJ ATA Device
Current CPU cooler is: Asus Silent knight AL
Case fan: Enermax Everist 80mm

OS: Windows 7 64bit home premium.

It doesn't sound like a bad brand though or a poor quality product.

Could'nt find a review of the 600w but i did find one for the 800w version and the 1000w version. Bit of a mixed bag but both say that the units suffer from bad ripple. I would avoid them to be honest and go with a well known brand.

I doubt if your rig pulls much more than 220w actually. The rig in my siggy only pulls a max of 274w at the wall and even then only by running Prime and Fur stability test together.

Never heard of Kingwin so I wouldnt trust them, go with a well known trusted brand such as Corsair, Seasonic, Antec or OCZ

I agree with this - stick to known good quality brands as it is one less thing to worry about, plus guarantees are usually longer, not to mention service backup if things do go wrong.

I'm getting a new case soon aswel the Mini P180 by Antec so might aswel change the psu while im at it. So no one would recommend this psu at all then or say it was safe to use?

Even decent brands fail, but usually in lower numbers. You get what you pay for with PSUs, but you might as well go for a decent and trusted brand with a decent warranty. The saying "You Pay Your Money and You Take Your Chance" springs to mind.

Enermax are the best in my experience, but Corsair and XFX are also good.

Hmm in that case i guess i'll avoid this and get a corsair one. I really wouldn't mind a modular one though for the cable management and since i have the monies :'P i dont mind paying that little bit more for one!

Are the Enermax modular ones any good?

I'm very impressed with pc power and cooling. I've had a fair few electric shocks off the main heatsink in mine, and it quite cheerfully electrocuted me while running a computer. It's had water pumped through it for months now and it just doesn't care. There's (far) better ways to judge a psu, but if it doesn't mind being earthed without warning I think that's a good sign.

Who's the oem for xfx? I know Seasonic make quite a few for corsair, and I think they made the pc p&c I'm using.

Seasonic as well AFAIK.

Your PSU electrocuted you? Surely thats not a good sign.

That's a good sign (seasonic, that is).

Bad luck on my part, the main heatsink was either going to be at ground or at 240V. Turned out to be the latter. I touched it to see if it was getting hot, then a few more times by accident. Not much of a design fault, the cover has pretty clear warnings to the effect that you shouldn't ever remove it. However I think its encouraging that if you do take the cover off, and then electrocute yourself with it, the psu itself shrugs off the abuse and keeps working

No mention on warranty from retailers who stock it though, not really a good sign.

Whats your budget?

525W Enermax MODU82+ can be had for £70
