Hi guys I got BT4 running off of USB stick on my Asus netbook.

I think the Atheros 9k wireless card gets picked up but when I run kismet I
the following error:

open failed: /sys/class/net/wifi0/device No such file or directory

I can get into that directory and I can see it and it does exist.

my device comes up as wlan0

what do I have to do? Edit a file? Which one?

please help

ahhh got it working I had to go into this:

go to /usr/etc/kismet.conf
change your ncsource to:
ncsource=wlan0:name=intel

and remove the wifi0 line

woo
hoo

analysing the networks this should be fun

does anyone know how I can get a client MAC?

Was about to suggest something similar!

IIRC, there's a really nice guide somewhere which details the whole process.
(It's been a few months, but one of the wireless sniffers should pick up the MACs?)

yes after research I think you have to use airmon-ng to lock onto a channel and SSID
and then you can discover the client MAC>

I've done that but the two MAC addresses the client and the AP look identical except the last two digits seems dodgy
