Kit Kat on Kindle Fire HD

I'm not too sure whether this is a relevant topic here, but maybe you guys could help nonetheless

I've ordered a Fire HD and am not the biggest fan of the Amazon skin, I've seen a few videos showing how to root the device and install 4.4 but am not sure as to whether it will have any effect on the performance/battery life and so on of the device.

Any advice will be much appreciated

Be aware that many apps/games will not work unless you buy the kindle version ( due to hardware ) but then they wont work due to the OS.

I had one i got cheap and did this but got rid after a week due to incompatibilities. Best bet for a good cheap tablet is a £99 Hudle... or a second hand nexus.
