Hello fellow foodies,
Does anyone have a recommendation or link to a very cheap kitchen blow torch? Or even have one at the back of the odds & sods drawer; you've used it once for Nigella's posh Creme Brule and not looked at it since?
I need one to oxidise some mesh for my vaping gear, so an even, blue flame is essential. I'm happy to cover any postage and take it off your hands :D

I use my blowtorch (similar to above) all the time. It's great for crisping things up and surprisingly awesome for fried eggs. You can get the egg white cooked perfectly whilst retaining a lovely gooey yoke :)

Pick up a disposable butane plumbers blowtorch instead. Somewhat larger flame and probably cheaper in the short term :p

This, kitchen blow torches are useless.

In fact PM me your address and if I can find my kitchen one I'll post it to you, it's out of gas and I'm not sure where it is.
I just use the B&Q one.

I wouldn't say they're useless but they're definitely nowhere near as good as a decent size plumbers torch. I make do with my kitchen one (and compared to not having a blowtorch it is awesome) but I have been meaning to pick up a better one for some time now :)

You're a star, thank you.
Out & about right now, but I'll email you this evening.
Again, thank you for your kindness :)

you can get mini blow torches that use disposable lighters for fuel.

I saw a mechanic using one to do some light welding on axmen :O

edit like one of these

I've got all 3 types of torch.
The only decent one for cooking is a plumbers one but you MUST make sure that the flame is fully blue and burning properly, if not you are spraying fuel all over your food and it will have an acrid taste to it.
The ones that use disposable lighters are really popular in the Middle East for incense and are handy for BBQ lighting etc but are just not powerful enough for cooking purposes.
