Hello dear ocukers.

I am looking to get some equipment together for a solo vocalist but am woefully out of my depth.

I am need a solution that can allow an iPad to use for audio backing tracks, which gets mixed with a live mic and output to a PA system. It would be good if the iPad could be controlled via the tablet and also alternatively via foot pedal or remote mic-stand mounted switch.

Most performances will be around 100-150 people indoors as background (think drinks reception), not as a primary performing stage musician.

Thank you in advance

I spent a while researching a similar setup a few years ago for my wife.
As I wouldn't always be available to help her set equipment up, I wanted her to have something that was a little easier to work with compared with the traditional large tripod and speaker affair. We went with an LD Systems Curv 500 ES system and then later added a Stereo Pole and 4 more array satellites. You can use 1, 2, 3 or 4 satellites on each pole depending on venue size accordingly.
She then plugs a Samsung tablet into a Topping E30 Dac which then goes into the Curv 500 for backing. She's also had a mixer plugged into the Curv to allow for a greater number of instruments to be put through the speakers.

I also forked out a fair bit on lights. I didn't want tacky RGB flashing stuff but having seen a local performer vanish into the darkness when playing outside at our local Bar/Brasserie, I wanted something to give a nice effect whilst also being easy to setup. I ended up getting a load of Ape Labs Coins with Magnet Ballhead Adapters to attach them to the Curv poles. Works a treat.

That's awesome! Thanks Charlie. Your setup looks to be what I'd be looking to purchase, however I must ask, how much did that set you back? The Curv 500 ES System looks excellent, but how do the tweeters work as they have no cables or power?

The lights sound like a great idea and will give a professional vibe, but the cost looks massive - additionally does each light unit need connecting to a separate power bank? May you have a pics of the setup please?
