kiwi experience

unless you're 18 or a complete party animal then kiwi experience is probably not the best one to go for!!!

Have a look at Stray bus for the best experience. Although a bit more expensive, it's well worth the difference.

Hire a car and drive yourself.

Like going on a bus but eleventybillion times better :p

Apart from missing out on the great experience of travelling whereby you meet plenty of people. Which is usually the point.

I did both, hired a 'wicked' camper and saw as much as I could, staying the odd few nights in hostels, but going on the 'experience' was much much better as you meet SO many people. Which is the best part.

The thing some people miss is it's not your average 'greyhound' which you are sharing with a bunch of randoms going from A>B. Those on the experience are all there for a good time and to enjoy the stops you are going to. Just worry about your health once you get back home ;)

This is probably the best advice you'll get. Stray were great when I went, and from what I heard from people on Kiwi Experience, a lot of them would rather have been on our bus =)

Often the point, not usually. It depends on your motivation for going. If you want to go and meet loads of new people then I completely agree. But if you are going with somebody and are less concerned about that and more concerned about seeing the country, then my suggestion works very well :)
