Kind of annoying he’s gone (going), his football was brilliant and somehow managed to keep up with City for a couple of seasons as well which was incredible.

WHat does the city have to do with it ? I lived in Liverpool for years, the cringe is nothing to do with them being scouse. In fact it's usually the nonlocal fans who get the rep for being the overly mawkish weirdos.
Anyway back on topic, big loss but Xabi Alonso would be a mega replacement.

100%. When you look at where we were he's done an unreal job. I've seen some silly digs about only winning one league but he was up against a cheating state. 97 points and finishing 2nd is unheard of.
He's leaving the club in a really good position and the league will be weaker without him. Will be interesting to see what his next move is, the German NT makes sense.

Adrian Durham on TS last night made me laugh. "4 trophies out of a possible 32, Fergie won that in 9 days". I did get his point but it was the style of play rather than a period of domination like they had in the 70's and 80's.
I think his timing is better than even Fergies was for leaving. More and more teams coming up against FFP restrictions due to years of Premiership over spending and less teams below with any money to farm out poorer buys to re-coup the money. The team is going to be in need of rebuild and is the money even there?

The 'only' position we arguably need to upgrade in the summer is LB currently, there could be an argument that both fullbacks might be if the new guy comes in and decides Trent is better in midfield, but Joey G is a very good rb.
